Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy is an urban college-preparatory magnet school with a 97% four-year college acceptance rate.

Over 500 eighth graders apply for approximately 225 freshman openings. Admission requirements include a minimum grade point average of 3.0, national standardized test scores at the 75th percentile or above, and two teacher recommendations. The total student body takes approximately 1,000 Advanced Placement and/or college courses. Collegiate Academy offers 22 Advanced Placement courses. Each year students enroll in more than 650 AP courses, all taught by College Board authorized faculty. Students can also participate in high school dual enrollment courses at local colleges and universities.

Newsweek's annual report of top American high schools again ranked Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy #2 in Pennsylvania and in the top 17 percent nationally. Collegiate Academy graduates have an average SAT combined math and critical reading score of 1122 and writing score of 563. The class of 2009 received $16 million in college scholarship offers.


The Collegiate Academy United States Academic Decathlon team won the state competition this past weekend at Edinboro University, beating out 13 others schools for the right to represent Pennsylvania in the national competition. Read the whole story.

Scheduling Night for Incoming Freshmen

Thursday, March 18, 6:30 p.m.

Incoming freshmen and their parents have an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about scheduling for the 2010-2011 school year. The evening will start with a presentation by interim dean Jim Vieira in the auditorium. Following that, students and parents are invited to the dining hall, where each department will have a table with information and materials. Collegiate Academy teachers will be available to answer questions about classes, and the counselors will be on hand to help students fill out their schedule cards.
