This highly interactive, technology based course investigates the history of various forms of modern media. The class begins by evaluating advertising and marketing techniques and their impact on the economy, environment, and our views of each other. Students then learn about various aspects of the radio industry and produce an original radio performance for the class. Students explore television and the movie industries’ history and impact of on today’s society. The class concludes by uncovering various aspects of the internet and its impact on all other forms of media and our society. There are no tests; students are primarily evaluated on group participation, projects, and discussion.
