Is the nature of mankind good or evil? Why do we have wars? Do the good guys always win? We can theorize about this or listen to pundits on television. This course focuses on the modern era, which begins with the French Revolution in 1789. Students will be introduced to such topics as the Enlightenment, the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, European Nationalism and Imperialism, World War I and the Russian Revolution, the Great Depression, World War II and the Cold War.
