Art

The goal of the Art Department is to help students develop their skills, promote creativity, develop an understanding of culture and increase their existing knowledge of Art History and the Arts. The Art Education Program develops individual student discipline, self-esteem, self-motivation, as well as, being able to communicate, imagine, create and reflect in all of the Studio Courses. Students will be able to express themselves through the use of a variety of materials both two and three-dimensional.

The position of the NPCA Art Department is best stated in the National Standards For Arts Education: "Students develop deeper and more profound works of visual art that reflect the maturation of their creative and problem solving skills. As they develop greater fluency in communicating in visual, oral and written form, they will exhibit greater artistic competence through these avenues. Students understand the relationship among art forms and between their own work and that of others. They are able to relate understandings about the historical and cultural contexts of art to situations in contemporary life and have a broad in-depth understanding of the meaning and import of the visual world in which they live."
