Jefferson Elementary School CTE Project

In the fall of 2009, the Jefferson Green Team students began an energy audit of their school with the help of Collegiate Academy and Edinboro University mentors. They found that there were appliances, such as TV's, that could be unplugged when not in use because they use "phantom energy". Also, they could turn off unnecessary electrical lights and open blinds for more natural lighting.

The Earth Action personnel then worked with the students for the rest of the school year to help inform the student body about energy reduction strategies. The green team continued to monitor usage behavior during the 2010-2011 school year. On April 26, 2011, they participated in a field trip to Asbury Woods to learn about sustainable design.
