Solar Panels

A grant of $112,778 for the installation of a 10.4 Kilowatt solar array was awarded to the Erie City School District. The panels are installed on the roof of the Northwest PA Collegiate Academy and provide approximately 1% of the building's electricity. A web-based data monitoring system, called Fat Spaniel, allows science, math, engineering, and economics classes to incorporate real-time and up-to-date information into their course work.

  • The Green Building Alliance's January 2010 eUpdate has a feature on Collegiate Academy's new rooftop solar panels.
