The Daughters of the American Revolution National Society have numerous scholarship opportunities for high school students. The NSDAR awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing and education. The Proton Energy scholarship is now accepting applications. Applicants must be a senior currently enrolled in a U.S. high school, be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum GPA of 3.6, and declare a science or technology-related major or intend to pursue a major in one of these fields. The AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship program is now accepting applications. The program is open to all high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be entering their freshman year of college in fall of 2012 as a full-time student and plan to pursue a degree in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Applications are now open for the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program. To be eligible you must be a high school senior planning to attend a four-year college or university during the 2012-13 school year, and plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education. Students must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words in answer to the following question: What are your dreams for your future? The Drive2Life Student PSA Contest is open to students in grades 6-12. In this contest, you will, create an exciting, innovative story board or script for a memorable Public Service Announcement that educates others about distracted driving. The grand prize winner receives $1,000 and will embark to New York City, where a professional film crew will transform the student’s vision into a 30 second commercial. The Edgar Snyder & Associates "Words to be Heard" Scholarship Contest is now accepting applications. To be eligible you must be a high school senior and submit a presentation that discourages underage drinking and drunk driving or texting while driving. The presentation can also highlight the dangers of these behaviors. Applications must be sent in and postmarked by March 30, 2012. The Great Lakes Game Programming Challenge is a game programming challenge open to teams of four to seven high school students from the states bordering Lake Erie. Students will need to work together and create a computer game having a "theme" of wind energy. The season runs from January through May 2012 with a final tournament at the Case Western Reserve University campus on May 5, 2012. The website for the challenge is http://eecs.case.edu/challenge. The United States Military V.A. Loan is now accepting applications for the Disability Awareness Scholarship. Applicants should submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words about how they or someone they knew overcame a disability to do something great. You must be a high school senior age 17 or older and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher to be considered. Application deadline is January 10, 2012. The AT&T Foundation is now accepting applications for the APIASF scholarship. To be eligible you must be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census, Be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States, Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree seeking, first-year student in the upcoming academic year, and have a minimum 2.7 GPA. The 5th Annual Create-A-Greeting-Card $10,000 scholarship contest is now accepting applications. Gates Millennium Scholarship. Students are considered eligible for this scholarship if they: 1. Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, 2. Are a citizen or legal permanent resident, 3. Have an unweighted GPA of 3.3,4. Will enroll in an accredited college or university fall 2012, 5. Have demonstrated leadership abilities, 6. Meet the federal Pell grant eligibility criteria. The BMW/SAE Engineering scholarship is accepting applications. To be eligible you must pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program, Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores, have at least a 3.75 GPA, and be a U.S. citizen. The Association for Women in Mathematics now has an essay contest open to all students in grades 6-12. Your essay should be based primarily on an interview with a woman currently working in a mathematical career. The essay should be approximately 500-1000 words in length. The Mr. Jack McCoy essay contest is now accepting applications. You must submit an essay with the topic of diplomacy. This can be focused on personal diplomacy success that can show the impact of one person/group to change the opinion of others around the world. The Union Plus Scholarship program is now accepting applications. Applicants will be evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need, and appreciation of labor. The American Nuclear Society Incoming Freshman Scholarship is now accepting applications. The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is now accepting applications for the Economics on TV Creative Writing Contest 2012. The contest is open to 11th and 12th grade students attending schools in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. To be eligible candidates must: Demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, leadership, and citizenship at school, home, at the workplace, and within the community; be nominated by an eligible community leader; be recommended by an authority figure; have a GPA of 3.0 or higher; graduate from high school in 2012; demonstrate financial need; and be a citizen of the United States of America. Applications for SERR Memorial Scholarships are now being accepted. The American Society of Human Genetics invites students in grades 9-12 to participate in the 7th annual DNA Day Essay Contest. Essays are limited to 750 words, not including references. Essays are expected to contain substantive, well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of understanding of the concepts related to the essay questions. Deadline is March 12, 2012. The Church Hill Classics “Frame my Future” scholarship award is now accepting applications. The WyzAnt College Scholarship program is now accepting applications. High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors planning to enroll in a four year college or university after high school graduation are eligible to apply. Applications are now being accepted for the BigSun Scholarship 2012. All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. Odenza Marketing Scholarship is now accepting applications. Gannon University will be awarding Scholars of Excellence in Engineering & Computer Science scholarships to eligible students. Big 33 Scholarships provide financial assistance to high school seniors who exhibit excellence in a well rounded educational and extracurricular program. Seniors who are enrolled in a public or private accredited school in Pennsylvania or Ohio, have attained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, and plan to continue his/her education in an accredited institution of higher education are eligible. The SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes is now accepting applications. High school students can enter for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship for their education expenses at a college or private career school. One winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 28, 2011 through May 11, 2012. RIT is now accepting applications for a Digital Arts, Film, and Animation Competition for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students. Students must be in grades 9-12, be deaf or hard of hearing, and have a parent’s or guardian’s permission to participate. Students must complete and submit the entry form, a 150-300 word descriptive essay of the processes used for their project, Submit artwork on a CD or DVD clearly labeled with category, title of work, artist’s name and school. C-SPAN’s StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation. Students are asked to create a short (5-8 minute) video documentary on a topic related to the competition theme: The Constitution and You: Select any provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustrating why it’s important to you. The Sunflower Initiative is offering a $10,000 scholarship for a young woman attending a woman’s college. The recipient must be academically motivated; she must possess a stellar high school record, strong references, and a desire to make a contribution to society. KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, and room and board. To qualify, graduating high school seniors must: Earn a minimum GPA of 2.75, enroll in a public college or university within their legal state of residence, plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need. American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors who are legal U.S. citizens or residents.
