USAD Team Prepares for Regional Competition

Collegiate Academy’s United States Academic Decathlon team of nine will participate in the regional competition on February 5 and 6 at Thiel College. Competition among the thirty-three members of the Academic Sports League team for one of the nine spots on was intense; those students who made the team are now focusing their efforts on a Pennsylvania state championship. Members include Sean Carney, Ben Engel, and Rachel Vandevert, Honors; John Luke Galla, Rose Heid, and Bronte Seath, Scholastic; and Reeve Hunsaker, Cullen Skinner, and Stan Tuznik, Varsity. Over the two days, all students will compete in ten events focusing on this year’s theme: The French Revolution. They will take tests in Language and Literature, Music, Art, Chemistry, Math, Science, and Economics as well as essay, interview, and prepared and impromptu speech. The six highest scoring teams at the regional competition will move on to the state competition in March.

Supporters are invited to cheer the team on during the spectator portion of the competition—the Super Quiz Relay, which will take place in the Bly Auditorium at Thiel College approximately 11:00 am. The awards ceremony will follow shortly afterwards; it should be over at approximately 3 p.m.
